Dr. Laura McGuire is an excellent speaker, consultant and educator. Having worked closely with her at the University of Huston, I was able to observe her commitment to educating campus communities on sexual violence preventation, equity and agency. Dr. McGuire's trauma-informed approach to content creation and delivery provided environment that promoted safety and healing. As a sexologist and educator, she was able to relate well to students and bring a unique approach and prespective to understanding consent and agency.

Dr. McGuire was a pleasure to work with! Our Child Advocacy Center invited her to present about LGBTQ+ Considerations in Survivor Care to help our staff provide better services and become better allies to this unique population that we serve. Our entire team was impressed with Dr. McGuire's wealth of knowledge andinsight. While we hosted this presentation virtually due to COVID-19 restriction, Dr. McGuire's created an engaging, compassionate atmosphere and a "safe space" for participants to open up and ask questions or provide personal/professional experiences on this topic. Her presentation was well-recived and our team requested we work with her again to learn even more!

"I am happy and proud to write this letter of recommendation for Dr. Laura McGuire. I met Dr. McGuire through a mutual professional colleague and I asked her to be keynote speaker at the Big Bend Society for Human Resource Management's" Talented Revealed Virtual Event II".
Dr. McGuire was a consummate professional and more. While Diversity & Inclusion (D & I) is a primary topis of training these days, Dr. McGuire trulu EDUCATED our forum on how to effectively address ressistance to diversity initiatives and her voice become both allies and conscious adversaries. I learned more from her in her 20-minute address than I had in many years of diversity work. I heartily recommended her as an expert in all aspects of D & I.

We had Dr. McGuire lead trainings on TIC for our entire staff.
It was only a huge success for our outward facing attorneys, but for our in office communication style, our marketing department, our case management staff, and our director level leadership. I cannot recommend having your team trauma informed enough... especially if you work with populations who are very very likely to have experienced significant trauma.

Dr. Laura and her team came out to provide a 2 day training for Sexual Assault Response Coordinators and Victim Advocates on Overcoming Resistance to SAPR Initiatives, Queering Victim Advocacy, and Trauma Informed Care in Action: Beyond Trauma. Not only were Dr. Laura and her team subject matter experts, they created an open environment where the SARCs and VAs could learn, share, and inquire on the various topics. Dr. Laura's genuine passion for educating and teaching reflects in her facilitation! Hands down an expert in her field!

Dr. McGuire, I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your workshop "Queering Advocacy." As a prevention educator and women’s studies graduate, these are topics that are dear to my heart. I loved your presentation - your style, your content, and your openness to helping a field that is very female and heterosexually focused become inclusive to the range of sexual violence survivors who need our services. Thank you for your research and your advocacy.

I reached out to Dr. Laura McGuire in a desperate attempt for some validation and guidance, as a recent victim of civil rights violations. Dr. McGuire was one of the few who listened when I was dismissed by everyone else. As a victim, I needed to be heard and the heartfelt response I received back kept my fight alive. I cannot fully express my appreciation for the generous time and gracious response I received from an unsolicited message. Dr. McGuire is obviously deeply committed to equality and truly makes a positive difference in this world. Thank you, Dr. McGuire for making such an impact.

Dr. Laura McGuire is a wonderful presenter and trainer. Her expertise is invaluable. She just conducted 2 trainings for our sexual assault centers across the state of Georgia. The audience was primarily advocates, however, we had a plethora of various professions attend due to their interest in gaining knowledge from Dr. McGuire. She is engaging and genuine in your approach transferring knowledge and challenging our pre conceived notions of social constructs that limit our skills as professionals working with survivors of sexual violence. I would highly recommend Dr. Laura McGuire for presentations, trainings and consultation.

Dr. Laura McGuire was my professor at Center for Human Sexuality Studies at Widener University in 2020. We connected over our shared passion for disability rights and awareness from the start. In 2021, Dr. Laura graciously and caringly shared time with me as practicum supervisor for my senior project on chronic pain and sexuality. Dr. Laura went above and beyond the supervisor role by taking the time to offer mentoring in all areas of my professional growth. I highly recommend Dr. Laura as a mentor, professor, or facilitator.

Dr. McGuire brought fresh direction and leadership to the Sexual Violence and Prevention Education program at the University of Houston. As the Student Body President at the time, it was a privilege to watch the program grow from an idea into a resource that was valued for its inclusiveness and focus on wellness and agency. Laura was an invaluable part of the elevating the conversation around sexual assault on campus and driving a curriculum to teach students of all backgrounds about the culture of consent.

In partnership with Dr. McGuire, we facilitated an interactive Healthy vs. Toxic LGBTQ Relationships workshops for college students. Students were able to discuss relationship models, ideal partner qualities, and share examples of healthy communication and boundaries. Participants also walked away with LGBTQ+ friendly campus and community resources. The workshop received raving reviews from the students.
